Born in Watertown, NY, Christopher Cooke grew up boating and sailing on Lake Ontario and the St. Lawrence River. Chris spent every moment he could on boats and in the water throughout his childhood. His career in the boating business began in the mid 90’s after he decided to continue the family tradition of military service. He proudly served a four-year tour in the Army as an Infantry Medic with the 10th Mountain Division (1-87 Light Infantry) with two combat tours in both Somalia and Haiti.
After the Army, Chris worked for several dealerships in sales and as a Yacht Broker while attending college. He earned degrees from both St. Marguerite D’Youville College (Occupational Therapy/Biology) and Trevecca Nazarene University (Management/Business). After college, he relocated to South Florida to work full-time for one of the world’s largest marine dealers. His impressive knowledge, attention to detail and impeccable customer service eventually earned him a position as General Manager of one of the nation’s largest dealerships. He accomplished all of these lofty goals before the age of 30.
His vast knowledge encompasses a multitude of boat lines, both power and sail, ranging from 20’-120’ feet which he has sold over the course of his 19-year career. Chris is proud to have personally sold and managed over $250 million dollars worth of yacht sales with clients spanning the globe. He also achieved the elite status of Certified Professional Yacht Broker (CPYB) and has his Chapman’s School 100 gross ton Captain’s License. Well-rounded is an understatement when discussing his knowledge of the marine industry and what the market trends are. Chris uses a no frills consultative approach, which helps clients see the big picture when purchasing or selling a vessel.
Today, Chris works as a full-time Yacht Broker and oversees both the United Yacht Sales Treasure Coast Division (S. FL) and the 1000 Islands Division (NY) with an array of brokers and staff on both of his teams which also represent many new lines of vessels.
When not working, Chris doesn’t sit idly. He believes in giving back to the community. Chris can be found dedicating his time to: coaching his son’s lacrosse team, attending PTA functions in Palm City, and he holds a seat on the Board of Directors at the Maritime and Classic Boat Museum.
“After reviewing many brokers, I chose Chris Cooke based upon his reputation for achieving results. Thus, I listed my boat with him and we accomplished a sale within three weeks. Could I say more about success? Stu Lewis, Delray Beach, Fl.”
“Chris recently sold my Tiara in this very low-priced and competitive market. This was a challenging sale since my boat was in Jupiter, which caused him extra travel time and effort. After weeding out the usual lo-ball offers, he found the best prospect and then organized the sea trial and survey. I feel that Chris got the best possible price for my boat with a lot of personal and professional effort.” Robert Godfrey, Jupiter, FL
“Over the years, I’ve owned eight boats (ranging in size from 19-56′) and, by far, the easiest and most pleasurable transactions I’ve had were the two that Chris Cooke handled for me.” David Cheifetz , Manalapan, FL
“Chris’ integrity, experience and smarts about boats – combined with his calm perspective from service abroad as an Army combat medic and more than seventeen years as a yacht broker – make him the consummate advocate for his clients.” Michael Samway Esq., Miami, FL
